As with any side project development is slow, but we are making our way through the design process. There are a few aspects of the project that are under development at the moment to get us to a prototype phase.
- Database Design - We are working at coming up with a database design that is efficient and somewhat logical. We have
wastedspent a large amount of time discussing what data should be stored about the DVD’s and how that data should be stored in that database.
- API Design - Work has started designing the API that will be used to access and update the data. This is still in the very early stages, but we hope to get a prototype up soon.
- DVD ID Program - A Linux-based program is in the works to be used to get the Unique ID of DVDs and put them in the Database.
As you can see we are still working on the very basic aspects of the system, but as with any good design time spent
arguing discussing design now should pay off in the end. We hope to get a proof-of-concept prototype up soon so that we can start playing with adding DVDs and inputting information about them. You can keep track of our progress by monitoring the development wiki.
Warning: Sometimes our development out paces the wiki, as the design gets more stable we will be making more updates to the wiki.
